Family tradition and tax expertise combined: Elena Esche joins ESCHE's private clients team

In May 2025, experienced tax consultant Elena Esche joined Tom Kemcke's private clients team at Esche Schümann Commichau. . In future, she will focus on providing tax advice to medium-sized family businesses and their shareholders. Her focus will be on ongoing tax advice, (inheritance) tax structuring issues and support with reorganisations and succession planning.

With Elena Esche, ESCHE is gaining back a proven expert who is closely associated with the firm not only professionally but also personally. She completed an internship in Tom Kemcke's team back in 2009. Now, 16 years later, she brings her extensive tax experience to advising family businesses - also as the granddaughter of our name partner Dr Ernst Esche.

Elena Esche was most recently Head of Tax at the listed company New Work SE (formerly XING SE). There she was responsible for all tax issues of the group in Germany and abroad, managed international restructurings and successfully established the group tax department with digital processes and matrix organisation. Prior to this, she worked at Ernst & Young for over nine years as a senior manager and authorised signatory, where she was responsible for complex tax issues for family businesses, particularly in the areas of corporate succession, inheritance tax, international tax structures and investments.

‘With Elena Esche, we are gaining an outstanding tax expert who knows both the dynamics of international companies and the specific needs of family businesses,’ says Tom Kemcke, Partner at ESCHE. ‘Her return brings a unique perspective to our team and we look forward to utilising her expertise for our clients. I met Dr Esche when I joined ESCHE at the end of 1988, so I am also delighted that Elena Esche is continuing a family tradition.’

She will strengthen the Private Clients tax team around Tom Kemcke and will focus on ongoing tax advice for medium-sized family businesses and their shareholders, (inheritance) tax structuring advice, including support with the restructuring of owner-managed companies and succession advice for family businesses.
